Dr Oscar Diez (European Commission) will talk about the forthcoming Quantum Act and a European perspective on the quantum ecosystem.
About this Event

During this Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, we are looking at how European policy shapes the research landscape here in Ireland and across Europe. This talk will cover the different quantum technology platforms, the technical challenges of scaling quantum computing, and the transition from scientific research to industrial applications. He will also discuss the European quantum ecosystem, the infrastructures and industrial capabilities being developed, and how the Quantum Europe Strategy and forthcoming Quantum Act aim to support this transition. Particular attention will be given to Ireland and the opportunities for students and early-career researchers in quantum science, engineering, software and entrepreneurship.

This talk will take place in the Fitzgerald Lecture Theatre, TCD at 6pm on the 4th November. We welcome students considering a career in the quantum industry, as well as early-career researchers and industry professionals interested in learning more about the quantum ecosystem at the European level and how upcoming policies will impact their work.
