About this Event
On Wednesday March 12, the Dutch Cycling Embassy is hosting a taste of a ThinkBike Workshop at the 25th Annual National Bike Summit in Washington, DC, hosted by the League of American Bicyclists.
The Dutch have been known for their innovative cycling infrastructure since the 1970s. Over the past 50 years, they’ve experimented with a variety of mobility strategies and ideas, ultimately shaping the five design principles of bicycle infrastructure: safety, coherence, directness, attractiveness, and comfort. While no single piece of infrastructure is perfect, designing great cycle networks requires balancing trade-offs between these principles. Join us for an interactive discussion on how NACTO & CROW inform the built environment & what they mean for the future of cycling.
The event is tailored for government employees at all levels. With presentations and hands-on assignments, we’ll discuss Dutch and U.S. best practices and how they can be applied to other cities and regions.
The event is organized in cooperation with the League of American Bicyclists, the Netherlands Ministry for Infrastructure and Water management, and the Netherlands Embassy in DC.
Space is limited and this workshop is intended only for government employees at the local, regional, state, or federal level.
Please note that if you are a government employee registerd for the National Bike Summit, your Summit registration already includes a ticket to this workshop.
