From Injustice to Action: Japanese American Leaders in Oregon

Join us for a panel discussion with some of the people featured in Standing for Justice: The Japanese Americans Shaping Oregon, including Lynn Nakamoto, Peggy Nagae, Mari Watanabe, Elisa Dozono, and Tiffany Koyama Lane. Learn about their lives and what inspired them to pursue careers focused around civic engagement and protection of civil rights. Hear directly from these local Japanese American politicians, lawyers, and judges on how we can all work towards justice here in Oregon.
This is an exhibition program for Standing for Justice, on view at the Japanese American Museum of Oregon starting June 27. You can read more about the exhibition here.

Lynn Nakamoto is a retired Oregon Supreme Court justice.
Peggy Nagae is the attorney who led the legal team for Yasui v. United States.
Mari Watanabe currently serves as an Oregon State Representative for District 34.
Elisa Dozono is a Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge.
Tiffany Koyama Lane is a Portland City Councilor representing District 3.
