From Headlines to Humor: An Evening with Dave Barry and Michelle Kaufman
About this Event
Asheville Watchdog welcomes Pulitzer Prize-winning humorist and author Dave Barry, and his wife, Michelle Kaufman, a sportswriter and columnist for the Miami Herald, for an evening of conversation, laughter, and storytelling on Sept. 16 at the Mission Health AB Tech Conference Center. Barry is best known for his nationally syndicated humor column, which ran for more than two decades and earned him the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary.
Asheville Watchdog's Tom Fiedler, a Pulitzer Prize-winning political reporter and former executive editor of The Miami Herald, will talk with Dave and Michelle about their extraordinary careers, the state of journalism today, and their life together. The evening offers a rare opportunity for a candid conversation between three acclaimed journalists in a casual, intimate setting.
Dave has written dozens of bestselling books, including his most recent title, an autobiography, Class Clown. Michelle has covered 14 Olympic Games, six World Cups, and numerous national playoff tournaments over the course of her career.
The evening begins at 6 PM, with a book signing immediately following the program and books available from our friends at Malaprop's.
The event is free, with a suggested donation of $25 per person to benefit Asheville Watchdog.
