From Crisis to Resilience: How Geopolitical Disruption Is Reshaping Procurement and accelerating sustainable transformation
By Sustainable Procurement Pledge (SPP) — Singapore
Singapore Sustainability Academy – collab room
Tuesday 28 April 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Overview
It’s been a tough six years to be a procurement professional. COVID pressure tested our supply chains. The Ukraine compounded it further. Now the Middle East conflict is breaking it a third time — and this time, the energy, food, fertiliser, and freight networks are all disrupted simultaneously, and we in Southeast Asia are on the front line.
The Philippines have declared a national energy emergency.
Thailand has banned fuel exports.
Vietnam’s diesel prices have surged 84%.
And across the region, governments are rationing fuel, encouraging work-from-home, and scrambling to replace supply that depended on a single maritime chokepoint.
But here’s what’s also true:
Each crisis has accelerated the shift toward more resilient, localised, and sustainable supply chains. It has forced us to think and work differently. To collaborate and consider new technologies and products.
The question for procurement professionals is no longer whether to change — it’s how fast, and in which direction.
Join SPP Singapore for an interactive evening exploring how the current geopolitical landscape is reshaping procurement strategy — from energy sovereignty and local sourcing to sustainable food supply chains, systems change and true-cost accounting.
Through two real-world case studies — one from hospitality and island tourism, one from aviation and food logistics — we’ll unpack the ripple effects of disruption across industries, and explore what resilient and sustainable procurement looks like in practice.
✨ What to expect:
- A macro framing of the compounding crises hitting global supply chains — with a regional lens on SE Asia
- Two practitioner-led case studies connecting aviation, tourism, food, and energy supply chains
- A systems-thinking lens on why procurement professionals are uniquely positioned to drive resilience and sustainability
- Interactive roundtable discussion — bring your own experiences and challenges
✨ Key themes:
- From reactive to resilient: procurement strategies that turn disruption into opportunity
- Energy sovereignty, localisation, and what “source locally” actually means in SE Asia
- The belly of the plane: how tourism, trade, and food supply chains are inseparable
- Making sustainable options the competitive option — not the premium one
- Import dependencies, vulnerable nations, and what resilience requires
This is a participatory session. Come ready to share, challenge, and learn from fellow procurement and supply chain leaders navigating the same disruption.
Target audience: Procurement and supply chain professionals, sustainability leads, and anyone navigating the intersection of geopolitics, resilience, and responsible sourcing.
Limited to 30 participants to ensure quality discussion.
