Attend one of our free community writing workshops focused on the themes of nature writing, sustainability, and climate fiction.
About this Event

Do you have a personal story about how our changing climate and environment has impacted your life? Do you have ideas for how we can create a more sustainable, equitable, and ecologically just future? Do you want to learn more about an emerging genre of fiction: Climate Fiction?

Attend one of our free writing workshops! We will help you craft a short narrative related to the theme of sustainability that may be performed live at our Sustainable Lake County reading on Thursday, May 2 at CLC's Lakeshore Campus, in the beautiful Eleanor Murkey Community Center overlooking Lake Michigan.



Workshop Dates
  • Lake Villa Library Community Writing Workshop – Wednesday, March 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the
  • Zoom Community Writing Workshop – Thursday, March 21 from 6-8 p.m. on Zoom (register for Zoom link)
  • Waukegan Community Writing Workshop* – Saturday, Feb. 24 from 11-1 p.m. in S206 at CLC's Lakeshore Campus *This is a bilingual workshop with a Spanish translator
  • Creative Writing Community Reading – Thursday, May 2 from 7-8:30 p.m., Eleanor Murkey Community Center at CLC's Lakeshore Campus. Participants will have the opportunity to share their work with the public. Friends, family, and community members are invited to this special celebration of environmental and nature writing.
