From Awareness to Action: A Wiregrass Suicide Prevention Education & Training Day
Join us for a free community education and training event designed to strengthen suicide prevention efforts across the Wiregrass.
The day will begin with Talk Saves Lives, presented by the Alabama Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This presentation offers an accessible introduction to suicide prevention, including common risk factors, warning signs, protective factors, and ways individuals and communities can help.
Following lunch, the Alabama Suicide Prevention & Resources Coalition will present QPR—Question, Persuade, Refer. QPR is a practical suicide prevention training that teaches participants how to recognize when someone may be struggling, begin a direct and compassionate conversation, and connect that person with appropriate support.
This event is presented through the collaborative efforts of AFSP Alabama, ASPARC, and The Uncarried. Together, we hope to increase awareness, equip everyday people with practical tools, strengthen community connections, and help the Wiregrass respond earlier when someone is struggling.
**Thursday, July 23, 2026**
**9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.**
**Alfred Saliba Family Services Center, Dothan, Alabama**
The event is free and open to the community. Lunch will be provided, and advance registration is requested.
This is an educational and prevention-focused event and does not provide therapy, crisis counseling, or emergency services.
