From Affirming to Informed: A Self-Assessment Workshop for Churches

West Michigan is home to over 30 churches that are accepting and affirming of LGBTQ+ identities. However, even well-intended churches often operate in ways that prevent LGBTQ+ people from feeling safe and connected.

In this workshop, Deacon Beck of the AuSable Inclusion Center will share his self-assessment tools and guide participants through the reflection process, preparing individuals to return to their broader communities with a deeper understanding of the LGBTQ+ experience. Participants will work with those from their own and/or other local congregations to share experiences and resources, making connections with local LGBTQ+ leaders and asking questions in an honest and friendly space.

Light refreshments will be provided by Gays in Faith Together (GIFT).

No entrance fee is required, but a small donation is encouraged to cover program fees.
