We are Frifelt — Shepherd Sound Systems’ residency at Tað Oslo. Led by our very own resident DJ, Mr. Huxby who opens this late-May session as summer approaches.

This edition, we invite KUSHT who will perform live alongside percussionist Antonio “Toño” Torner, blending electronic music with live acoustic drums and guitar on stage. Kusht (currently Oslo-based) is an internationally renowned artist performing his live sets at stages such as Seebühne at Fusion Festival and Polygon Stage at Wonderfruit. This evening at Tad, Kusht & “Toño” Torner will push the Kusht live show to the next level!

Joining the line-up to channel all our excitement is local hero Tâmitan. We have had the pleasure of observing the evolution of this artist since his first appearances on stage, and have always been very impressed by his talent as a DJ. It is such a good time to oversee the audiovisuals with Tâmitan in the booth! He doesn’t hold back and lights the dancefloor on fire every time!

This evening unfolds across two stages in the same room, one for our musical performers and another set up for visual artist Yasmin Nayla who will paint live the artwork “La Mano del Maestro” throughout the night. This rendition of Frifelt is a very special occasion where live visual art performance becomes a part of the totality of all the pieces of this ephemeral group artform we weave together at Tad for the evening.

As we have decided to move our last edition of the six-part resident series to the fall, this fifth edition will be our last before the festival summer kicks in. So, if you haven’t had the chance to catch us yet, now is the time.

Kusht & the Toňo Drums
Kusht hails from the Scottish Lowlands and has carved out a place in the downtempo scene with his distinct, genre-bending and psychedelic live shows. On stage, he blends bouncing beats, spaced-out guitar, and worldly sampling into ever-evolving sets where no two performances are the same.
For this special show, Kusht is joined by Oslo-based Latin percussionist Antonio “Toño” Torner—active in the scene since 1998, with credits including Oslo Chamber Music and Det Norske Båss Ensemble, and a background in teaching across cultural schools. Having previously played together at Dattera Til Hagen in 2017, the duo reunites to bring a dynamic live experience.
Expect deep grooves, live Latin percussion, polyrhythms, driving basslines, and psyched-out guitar textures.

Tâmitan
DJ and producer based in Oslo, Norway. He does not stick to one specific genre, but often moves between progressive house and indie, with a focus on groove and flow in his sets. He draws inspiration from dance floors and festivals across Europe, bringing those experiences into both his DJ sets and his productions. The music he plays and creates is often energetic, hypnotic and playful as he enjoys blending styles to create surprises on the dance floor. He regularly plays at some of the biggest clubs in Norway and has shared lineups with artists such as Emanuel Satie, Yet More, Madmotormiquel, Mimi Love, Mira and Chris, Aikon and Finnebassen. He is also one of the driving forces behind Kös, a concept focused on curated parties with a strong emphasis on sound, lighting, venue and a mix of local and international artists. U don’t wanna miss out when they throw a party.

Yasmin Nayla
Yasmin’s openness and innate curiosity make her an explorer who immerses herself deeply and lovingly in the many facets of life. As an artist she is deeply fascinated by uncovering the emotional spectrum and hidden aspects of the human psyche. Her imagery draws on elements from surrealism and mysticism.
Her earlier works explored more of the raw and intense states of the human condition, something that over the years has gradually matured through her immersion in yogic sciences and other spiritual practices.
On this night she will paint a sketch called “La Mano del Maestro”, a reverie that revealed itself to her on a vision quest in the equatorial mountains. This vision of a live-art installation has been waiting for an opportunity to materialize, and we are already mesmerized by the very process of bringing this performance to life as the first wave of Frifelt crests this 30th of May.
