Hello EveryoneI am pleased to confirm the next volunteer day will be on Wednesday 20th August 10.00 - 3.30.
Like before we will meet at the Pitch and Putt entrance/Friends of Hillsborough container by Larkstone car park:

All tools including gloves will be provided but please bring a packed lunch/drinks as required.
The plan depending on numbers and the weather is to do the following:
1) Cut and rake the wildflower meadows on the top of the ramparts and the 'Ski Slope' area. This is essential to help the meadow to develop by encouraging plant diversity and also makes the soil less favourable for invasive grass, bracken and bramble.
Importantly Yellow Rattle and other Wildflower species have now got a foothold in the meadows and will have gone to seed.
We plan to have a mechanical flail to do the cutting and shall rake the cuttings into big 'Dumpy' bags, which when full we drag down the hill.
This method we found was a lot less labour intensive! and efficient.
Please come along if you can as 'many hands make light work' especially in Wildflower maintenance and development 😁
2) Cut the overgrowth at Beacon Point which is starting to obscure the views
3) Litter pick around the Victorian shelter.
