For generations, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has been more than an event—it’s been a community. It’s where friendships are built, opportunities are created, and the youth of Texas are supported in ways that last far beyond the stadium and arena dirt. The impact reaches across our state, shaping futures and leaving a legacy of generosity and growth.
The Friends of Folger Buyers Group was created to honor the legacy of a leader who embodied everything the Rodeo stands for. He had a way of bringing people together, encouraging growth, and making sure that every effort was focused on helping others. His vision for what the Rodeo could mean to both volunteers and exhibitors alike continues to guide the work we do today.
In our very first year, we raised $25,000 to support youth at the Rodeo, continue the example he set, and strengthen the ability of committees to keep serving with purpose. Those funds went directly back into purchasing animals, supporting young exhibitors, and fueling the mission of the Rodeo.
Now, we’re taking that momentum even further. On November 15th, we’ll host our first-ever Friends of Folger Gala—a night of celebration, community, and giving. Guests will enjoy a sizzling steak dinner, live music, BYOL, a fantastic silent auction, and the chance to come together with friends who share the same passion for supporting youth and the Rodeo’s mission.
This gala is more than just a great night out—it’s an opportunity to honor a legacy, build on his example, and make a lasting difference.
