The talk looks at Norwich socially and culturally during the 1960s, and the role that The Orford Arms played during that time. The talk considers all elements in this process, the promoters, the bands, both local and chart toppers, the influence of the American servicemen and of course the ordinary folk of Norwich and Norfolk that created this legendary venue.
It also examines the visit of Jimi Hendrix in January 1967, the fall in popularity of the venue and its ultimate closure.
It also touches on the growth of youth subcultures in Norwich and Norfolk during the period.
FREE event. No need to book. Wheelchair accessible and free parking in the back of the library.
