About this Event
About the event:
This is not a class—it’s an experience.
Open to all levels, this event invites you to step into the world of flamenco in a fun, relaxed, and welcoming way. If you already know flamenco, it’s a beautiful opportunity to connect with other flamenco lovers. If you’ve never experienced it before, this is the perfect place to begin.
We’ll start with a guided movement experience, followed by a social dynamic to connect with one another, and then open the space into a free, social dance party.
Perfect for a Mom’s Night Out, a date night with your partner, or a group celebration with friends. Don’t miss this opportunity to move, connect, and have fun—while experiencing flamenco together.
This event is part of the Friday Night Lights series and is held in Studio 7 on the ground floor of The Dance Complex.
About Laura Sánchez:
Laura Sánchez is a multidisciplinary artist, flamenco dancer, and stage creator whose work expands the boundaries of flamenco through contemporary and interdisciplinary practice. Trained in Spanish Dance and Flamenco at the Professional Conservatory of Madrid, she brings a deeply embodied and expressive approach to the art form.
She is the creator of Expressive Flamenco©, a practice developed through her training in Expressive Therapies at Lesley University (USA), where she explores the transformative and somatic dimensions of flamenco. Her work has been presented internationally in theaters, festivals, and universities across Europe and the United State and has been published at the American Dance Therapy Journal.
An award-winning artist, her projects include After Dark and her multidisciplinary work Welcome to Holland!?, a touring danced monologue on motherhood and resilience. She has received several grants in Massachusetts recognizing her work, including the Live Arts Boston Grant, Next Steps for Boston Dance, the New England Dance Fund, and the Boston Dancemakers Residency, among others.
Her most recent work, Tulip Skin, is an illustrated memoir about her journey of resilience and becoming, which will be presented on April 29 at Porter Square Books.
