Friday Drum Circle: Tongue drums and frame drums

Join us for our next public drum circle on Friday, July 17 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
ABOUT THE CLASS:
Enjoy an evening of rhythm and melody for our July Friday Drum Circle. Whether you play the tongue drum, frame drum, or are completely new to drumming, this circle is a welcoming space to learn new rhythms, connect with others, and enjoy the experience of playing as a group. Bring your own Native American-style frame drum or tongue drum if you have one—or just come ready to join in.
Cost: $15 per participant
Ages 16+
This class is limited to 25 folks.

No experience necessary.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Alexandra Ray is a drum and rhythm practitioner who is constantly exploring the intersection of rhythm and nature. She started playing the drums over 18 years ago and has developed an interest in world percussion.
She plays many different types of drums and her current practice integrates the healing rhythms of the drum with mindfulness and gratitude around nature. Alex has been a member of several percussion groups and performance ensembles in Georgia, Texas, and Minnesota.
Alex is the director of the drumHeart festival ensemble and teaches a variety of drum classes and workshops at the Women’s Drum Center. She is excited to share, learn and drum with others! For more information on Alex, visit www.rootrhythm.com
GETTING THERE AND ACCESSIBILITY:
Please be prepared to remove your street shoes at the door. You're welcome to bring slippers or non-street shoes to change into upon arrival. We also have a limited supply of clean socks available to borrow. Our no-street shoe policy is designed to protect our new floor for posterity.
Our center is located in the basement of the Dow Building; it is accessed by one flight of stairs. No elevator is available in the industrial building where our studio is located.
Use the door on Hampden. Ring WDC doorbell.
