We’re excited to be screening the film ‘Frida’ (2002) – A visually vibrant and emotionally resonant biographical drama that portrays the life of the iconic Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.
The film explores Frida’s physical and emotional pain, her political activism, and her bisexuality. It portrays her as a strong, independent woman who channelled her suffering into her distinctive art. The film, directed by Julie Taymor, is known for its vibrant visuals and evocative storytelling. It follows Kahlo’s journey from a young girl to a celebrated artist, showcasing her struggles, her artistic development and relationships.
