Fresno Stonewall Monthly Meeting - July 14th at 5:30 pm
This month:
- Guest Speaker: Prof. Chris Lopez with Dr. Peter Robertson
- Topic: Upcoming Poster Art Exhibition at Fresno State
Prof. Chris Lopez, Director of the Center for Creativity and the Arts (CCA) at Fresno State, and Dr. Peter Robertson, Director of Development at Fresno State, will be presenting on a poster art exhibition and an in-person discussion with the Guerrilla Girls in the Phebe Conley Gallery at the School of Art, Design, and Art History. The exhibition will run from August 24 to September 25, with the scheduled in-person discussion and reception on Thursday, September 10. This exhibition, including all associated scheduled events, will be free and open to the public, including free campus parking.
About the Artists: The Guerrilla Girls are an anonymous group of women artists who have brought awareness to the severe lack in female artists represented compared to their male counterparts in major museums such as the MET in N.Y. This cohort began in 1985, and to this day, there has been very little movement in the representation of female artists. In addition, the Guerrilla Girls address inequalities of all oppressed groups, including men, in a range of issues. It is for these reasons that I feel it is necessary and timely to bring such important artists to Fresno.
The Guerrilla Girls on The Late Show:
All Democrats are welcome to attend meetings regardless of membership status but we hope you'll decide to join (only $20 per year) and participate in club meetings and activities. New members must wait 28 days before they are eligible to vote on any club business.
