Fresno County Opioid Abatement Stakeholder Planning Meeting

Purpose:Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) retained the services of Health Management Associates (HMA), a national research and consulting firm, to assess substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery service needs and opioid overdose issues in our county, set goals for reducing harm from opioids, and assist in the development of new and expanded ways to address the opioid crisis.

As part of this work, DBH and HMA hope to build on the great efforts of our community partners who have already worked hard to address the opioid crisis in Fresno County. Our desire is to leverage cross-sector expertise through an expanded collaborative approach, utilizing the Collective Impact Framework as a guide. The hope is to have a unified, cross-sector collaborative group of stakeholders and providers in addiction and overdose prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery to develop and oversee implementation of a strategic plan focused on abatement of the opioid epidemic. HMA will work with Fresno County partners to support the development of a common agenda, shared goals, mutually reinforcing activities, and shared measurement across partners in the county as they develop a five-year strategic action plan for reducing harms related to the opioid epidemic.
