Contours (Live)
Contours live set explores the percussive focused sound palette that the artist has honed since his debut release on Rhythm Section in 2015. The live material draws heavily on the minimalist, ambient and tuned percussion led compositions of his 2020 Balafon Sketches album. Contours merges delay soaked balafon and homemade instrumentation with polyrhythmic drum machine programming and interlocking synth lines
This rhythmic propulsion is underpinned by luscious dubbed out strings and sub heavy pressure, which all combine to take the listener on a rich sonic journey. His productions have received support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Andrew Weatherall, Mr Scruff , Optimo, Zakia, BenjiB and Bradley Zero.
Along with his productions, Contours’ sound is channelled via his NTS Radio Residency show ‘Expansions’ with Yadava. ‘Compositions glow up to echoing inflorescence... It’s original music, full of detail, inhabited by good spirits’ (The Wire)

Lara Jones
Lara Jones is a London based experimental producer, saxophonist, keyboardist and lyricist, that creates high energy pulsating electronics and jazz harmonies that weave into electronic grime and a web of arpeggiated synths, basses and glitchy beats in Ableton Live.
Jones’ work has undergone an organic evolution across her EPs, with her latest set distilling her dizzying mix of accessible and avant-garde sounds with edgy, powerful production. From the haunting poignancy of her darkly ambient debut EP, Ensó, via the crunching industrial grime of Flow, with its flickering gritty textures, to the warm eroticism and enticing dance grooves of Fig, Lara Jones refuses to be boxed in by genres or gender definitions.
As a queer artist, Lara uses her work to explore queer narratives and experiences whilst opening up conversations on gender, stereotypes, queer fashion and queer identity. She also uses her music as a platform to address political issues and social injustices.
This has all garnered her support from established music media outlets such as BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 3, DJ Mag, Electronic Sound, The Wire and many more. In addition to this she was Jerwood Arts Jazz Encounter Fellow 2020-2022 and recipient of Help Musician’s UK’s Peter Whittingham Jazz Award 2021 and PRSF Women Make Music Awardee 2024.

More about FRESH Thursdays...
FRESH happens every Thursday during our open seasons. It is a platform to bring you fresh new music served up alongside a homecooked plant based meal, board games and candles. It can be hard to get people out to hear music that they don’t know yet & this is why we decided to offer dinner as an incentive to try something new, these gigs are cosy, communal nights and often you get to hear completely new music for the very first time.
The music varies across multiple genres but it is usually fairly gentle listening type music & well suited to a relaxed Thursday night. The gigs are seated and during the sets the audience is very music focused & quiet with time to chat in between the sets and at the end when we keep the bar open.
We cook the food from scratch usually and dinner is well suited to lover of vegetables and wholesome cooking, it's usually something like a dhal, veggie chilli, tacos, roast veg or similar, our base line is vegan sometimes with veggie options. We can cater for nut/gluten free meals, but nuts & gluten are used in the kitchen so if you have serious allergies please bear that in mind.
Doors at 7pm, we aim to get dinner ready by 8pm and will bring it to you when its ready… music usually starts around 8pm, sometimes later if it’s a busy night for food (we are a tiny team) and we aim to have the music finished by 10-10.15 pm. We can only guarantee dinner with advance tickets and these days we cap dinner at 60 meals and the food tickets do often sell out.
We hope/think it's obvious that quality music and dinner for £10 is all about culture & community and that these events cost us money… If you can afford to purchase a higher level ‘Cobalt supporters‘ ticket we appreciate the additional help towards costs very much.
