The second edition of Frequency features etagegn, who will be delighting us with an evening of post religious folk-rock for the deconstructed soul.

etagegn is an ethiopian-canadian singer-songwriter, best described in the genre of “folk-rock”, more specifically, “post religious folk-rock”. through the genre of “post-religious folk-rock”, etagegn explores themes of religion, queerness and self discovery. lyrically, she is inspired by the likes of adrianne lenker, stevie nicks and tracey chapman. by infusing her work with heartfelt lyrics and powerful vocals, etagegn makes for an unforgettable live performance that is both intimate and communal.

her debut single, “the martyr”, released in 2023, and her follow-up a demo, “new year’s song”, came out earlier this year. both are available to stream on apple music and spotify. currently, etagegn is in the studio working on her debut ep.
