Join Preserve Orange County on May 6 for a walking tour of historic French Park where- since the 1970s - residents have fought successfully to maintain the historic architecture of this downtown Santa Ana neighborhood.
This community of single and multi-family residences was designated as a local historic district in 1984 and a national historic district in 1999. Tour-goers will appreciate French Park's unique street pattern and architecture dating to the late 19th century. Residential styles such as Queen Anne, Colonial and Period Revival, Craftsman and Modernist are all in evidence here, as is the history of the first generation of city dwellers that shaped the new city of Santa Ana and the new county of Orange.
Your guide is historian, preservation advocate, and real estate executive, Tim Rush. Tim has a successful history of civic and preservation advocacy in Santa Ana, where he is a long-time resident. He chaired the Spurgeon Clock Tower Restoration Committee; co-authored the list of historic buildings which became the basis for the original City of Santa Ana historic register; and today is the Chair of the Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana.
Our last tour of the season is on May 6, 2023 starting at 2 pm. Tours are 2 1/2 hours duration. Directions and parking information are provided following ticket purchase. Preserve Orange County members receive a 25% discount on tickets. To find out more about Preserve Orange County, please go to www.preserveorangecounty.org.
