Affirm and build upon your knowledge of French in an informal, encouraging atmosphere. Following a review of topics addressed in introductory and basic “refresher” courses, we will move ahead to additional verb tenses, more advanced sentence structures, and enhanced vocabulary. Classes will involve participatory, friendly conversation on every-day, contemporary, and cultural topics in French with an emphasis on pronunciation. We also will read a short story from French literature. Class is in person and will be conducted in French to the extent appropriate.The program will be flexible so as to be comfortable yet worthwhile for those attending. To maximize the benefit from this class, it is suggested that you have a prior basic grounding in French. If you have taken French through UC Communiversity, we will be using the same book, French: A Self-Teaching Guide, 2nd Edition, by Suzanne A. Hershfield-Haims ISBN 0471369586 or 978-0471369585
