Did you know that a King of France resided at Prague Castle for nearly four years, or that the Barrandov district is named after a famous French geologist? Did you know that Denisova and Legerova Streets are named after French Slavists who contributed to the creation of the First Republic?
For the first part of the tour „French Bohemia“, we will explore the splendid Hradcany and Lesser Town district in search of places that bear witness to the connections between Prague and France, from the Middle Ages to the present day. From the first King of Bohemia member of the House of Luxembourg, and a regular at the French court, to President Mitterrand, who, on an official visit under the communist regime, invited dissidents of the regime, including Vaclav Havel, to the French embassy for a breakfast that will go down in history. Generals, artists, and scientists of both nationalities also forged these often overlooked ties, which this tour aims to reveal.
