About this Event
A Freetown Village Holiday Celebration!
Freetown Village Celebrates Christmas promises to inspire as it explores the significance of family and cultural traditions during this holiday season. Set in the 1870s in an African American community, the play celebrates the richness of community, the spirit of giving, and the preservation of family traditions.
As the holiday has gained in popularity in recent years, some of the townspeople are not so eager to embrace the new commercialized influences to their traditional celebration. Last year their suggestion to host the first-ever Christmas Program in the Freetown Village Church nearly divided the community.
Now the Committee wants to bring even more change to the holiday festivities! Facing strong opposition, Sarah Elizabeth—the leader of the Committee, will need to maneuver through a potential minefield to find a compromise.
Is she up to the challenge? Join us in our annual holiday journey back in time and help the townspeople decide how “Freetown Village Celebrates Christmas”!
