Free Workshop Tour: From Sketch to Finished Piece Whaling City Masterworks
About this Event
Take a Look Inside Our Workshop!
Ever wonder how a simple sketch becomes a finished piece of art? Join us at Whaling City Masterworks for a FREE behind-the-scenes tour of our creative workshop!
Located inside the historic Kilburn Mill in New Bedford, our workshop is where imagination meets craftsmanship. From custom wooden signs and wall art to furniture, murals, and one-of-a-kind creations, there's always something in the works!
What You'll Experience
During this guided tour, we'll walk you through our creative space and introduce you to the tools, techniques, and processes we use to bring our ideas to life.
You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how we:
- Design: Turn sketches and ideas into digital artwork.
- Carve: Use our CNC router to transform designs into wooden creations.
- Paint: Add color, detail, and personality by hand.
- Finish: Sand, stain, and seal our pieces for their final appearance.
You'll also see examples of our finished artwork, explore projects in progress, and have the opportunity to ask questions about our creative process.
Want to Get Hands-On? Try Our CNC 101 Workshop!
This free tour is a great introduction to what we do, but if you're interested in learning more, we also offer a separate CNC 101: From Sketch to Finished Piece workshop!
Our CNC 101 workshop takes a more in-depth look at the entire process, from designing and programming our CNC router to carving, sanding, painting, and finishing.
Participants will also have the opportunity to hand-paint their own wooden creation!
Because we apply a protective polyurethane finish to each completed project, your finished piece will be available for pickup approximately one week after the workshop, allowing time for the protective coating to properly cure.
