Discover the Magic of Welsh Christmas Folklore: The Mari Lwyd Comes to Vista!Join us for a free educational event at The Avo Playhouse in Vista and step into the enchanting world of Welsh Christmas folklore and the mysterious Mari Lwyd, the ghostly horse of winter’s night.
Author Tania Yager, creator of The Allure of Dark Winter Spirits, will present a 35-minute lecture exploring the origins, meaning, and modern revival of the Mari Lwyd tradition. Experience the wonder firsthand as she unveils The Mari Beast of Vista, an authentic replica of the traditional Mari Lwyd, alongside the Ghost Horse Festival puppets, all handcrafted this past summer for the upcoming 2025 Wild Hunt Procession at the 4th Annual Dark X-mas Market.
Tania will share her creative process, folklore research, and behind-the-scenes stories from bringing these hauntingly beautiful puppets to life.
