There are an estimated 40 million dogs (and 25 million cats) living in Mexico – 70% live on the streets. With the average lifespan being just under two years, many become the victim of starvation, disease, predation, and road accidents. In Oaxaca, where over 66% of the population lives in poverty, these animals often go unvaccinated, unsterilized, and untreated, contributing to overpopulation of homeless dogs and cats and associated public health and safety risks. COPAW's new program, GOPAW – Global Outreach Programs for Animal Welfare – aims to change that.

Experience the magic of Oaxaca through traditional dance, live musical performances, authentic regional cuisine, artisanal crafts, and auctions, raffles and givaways full of exciting experiences, luxury vacations, regional crafts, local tickets, and more – including a handful of special experiences to sightsee in Oaxaca and experience our lifesaving field operations with our team.
Every ticket purchased helps fund free sterilization and vaccination clinics, veterinary training and employment for local professionals, educational youth programs and public health outreach in underserved communities across Oaxaca.

What is Guelaguetza?
Guelaguetza is a centuries-old cultural celebration held in Oaxaca, Mexico, showcasing the traditional dances, music, and clothing of the region’s diverse Indigenous communities. Rooted in the Zapotec word for "offering," it symbolizes mutual support, unity, and communal giving. Each performance honors the heritage of Oaxaca’s eight regions, preserving customs passed down through generations.
