This talk will look into the sightseeing journey of an actual Grand Tour that took place, based on first hand reports and actual correspondence, exploring the context of it in within the social hierarchy of the time, an ambitious itinerary, of the hazards of inter-continental travel by horse, carriage, and sailing ship, exploring letters of introduction, the background political scene abroad and back at home, and the expense involved.
