February 24: Florida-Friendly Landscaping for South Florida
We will be introducing the topic of Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) and the 9 Principles that it is built around. FFL is a science and research-based program that teaches the basics of a sustainable, low-impact, environmentally friendly landscape to use less water and reduce pollutants in our water systems.
March 31: What is Happening to My Plant?! Pests and Disease Management in the Landscape
Warm temperatures and high humidity create a wonderful environment not only for growing plants, but also for the pests and diseases that can plague our landscapes. Learn the principles of integrated pest management (IMP) to help keep your plants happy, healthy, and thriving.
April 28: Florida-Friendly Landscaping in an HOA or Condo Association: Making Changes for Sustainable Landscapes
Community associations account for thousands of acres in Palm Beach County, learn how you can transform your landscape or your community's common areas into more sustainable Florida-Friendly landscapes. We will also dive into how to hire a landscape professional and what the key factors are that will help you find the right fit.
May 26: Composting: Creating Your Own Black Gold
Join in to learn how to transform your yard and kitchen waste into valuable, nutrient-rich organic matter for your landscape and garden. There are many ways to start composting, but no matter which is right for you, keeping nutrients in your landscape and reducing what gets trucked away are great ways to make your yard and landscape more sustainable.
