Tuesday, June 11: Papier Mache (part 1) – Led by John, this session will introduce the history of papier mache (i.e., used in making masks, ornaments, helmet in ancient China). Attendees will be given papier mache mix to make bowls/ masks/ ornaments. The session will end with a fun quiz to tie it all together. Attendees will be asked to take their project home, let it dry and bring it back for the next session, on Tuesday June 18.

About the facilitators: John and Annie

Annie Besant is a published children's author and storyteller who has written for leading publishing houses in South Asia. A seasoned hand with children young and old, Annie brings excitement, laughter and thoughtfulness to her storytelling sessions. Her other job as a psychotherapist means she also brings elements of mindfulness, positivity and learning in nuanced ways. Annie holds a Masters in Professional Writing and another in Clinical Counselling. When she is not writing or tickling children to laughter with stories, she loves to spend time playing in the mud with her own little one.

John Ranjith spent much of his life acting and dabbling with all things related to DIY. A self-taught DIY enthusiast, John sees art and new creations where people see bits and bobs of random things. John especially enjoys taking his DIY ideas to children because of their wild creativity. Every interaction, for John, is an opportunity to not only teach but also learn from their vast creative minds.
