Script Lab supports Tampa Bay screenwriters (from beginner to professional) with script feedback and table readings that meets monthly.
“Writing lessons” are not part of this script lab. More than enough of these lessons are available on YouTube and in print. The focus of this script lab is actually writing and getting regular feedback since continuity is vital to writers truly wishing to complete scripts.
SCREENPLAY WRITERS GROUPS ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF ANY GOOD WRITER!
ACTORS ARE WELCOME.
Script Lab members get together for a TABLE READ from excerpts from each other’s scripts (whether short films, features, or television) and exchange feedback.
1. Writers bring up to 12 script pages, assign parts for others to read aloud, and receive comments. Original Scripts. No Adaptations.
2. Writers also have the option of bringing outlines or treatments for feedback instead of pages.
3. Writer should bring enough copies for each spoken part in their chosen pages.
4. Writer will start with a logline and/or short lead-in to their chosen pages.
5. Writers will wait until all feedback is given before speaking.
6. Those offering feedback will not exceed a two- to three-minute time limit.
7. Those offering feedback should write notes that the writer may read later.
8. Those who want to offer extended feedback should do so after the meeting.
9. ACTORS are encouraged to join, read pages, and give feedback. However, Script Lab is designed to help writers with their craft.
10. Staged Table Readings will hopefully be planned where a full cast will perform a screenplay for a live audience on special occasions.
