Join us for a FREE Rat Control Community Workshop at the Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP)! Rats are part of urban environments, but unmanaged populations can threaten public health, food safety, backyard poultry, and soil health. Rodenticides can cause damage to our ecosystem and food system. Join the Massachusetts Avenue Project in partnership with Cornell Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and The Tool Library for a workshop and demonstration focused on effective rat mitigation strategies.
This session will center on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles and practical strategies you can apply at home, on your property, in gardens, on urban farms, or in community spaces.
Date: Saturday, June 6th
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP), 387 Massachusetts Avenue Buffalo, NY 14213
Learn how to:
- Identify signs of rat activity and rat burrows
- Reduce rat and pest attractants
- Strengthen site and property management to prevent rats
- Understand your options for humane, environmentally responsible options for rat control
A field demonstration of the burrow treatment method with BurrowRx will be included as one part of a broader rat mitigation strategy education and resource program. BurrowRx is a new non-rodenticide tool for managing rodents in urban ecosystems that will soon be available for rent from the Tool Library!
