FREE Queer BIPOC Rock Climbing Night
About this Event
Join us for a special BIPOC Queer Climbing Night with free passes, rental gear, food, swag, and community!
Our BIPOC meetups for LGBTQIA+ people who are Black, Indigenous, or other People of Color meet monthly on 4th Wednesdays. Our other 4 meetups are open to all.
This special FREE session is made possible by The NYS LGBT Health & Human Services Network. Please pre-register.
All experience levels, bodies, and abilities are encouraged. You don’t have to be “strong” to climb, and if it's your first time, don't worry - we've got you.
Chalked Up(state) Queer Climbing is the NY Capital Region program of Crux Climbing.

Come with climbing partners, or let us help you connect with others. CRG has bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing. If you have not yet been to a CRG, please go to "required forms" at the top of their website and complete all before the meetup.
When you check in at the front desk, let them know you're here for the Chalked Up BIPOC meetup. One of our hosts will be near the desk to welcome you. We'll circle up for intros in the middle section of the gym at ~6:10p.
- If you've already passed your CRG belay test: We'd love your help belaying those who don't yet know how.
- If you know how to belay & tie in, but have not yet passed your test at CRG: we will gather all of you to take the test together after intros.
- If you do not know how to belay and/or tie in, or are not yet confident enough to pass the test: no problem, we'll belay you and direct you to a future belay class at CRG! Belay *instruction* will not take place during our meetups.
Accessibility
Main floor is at ground level, with ramps to two other levels. Front door is not automatic. There is a short step up to the climbing area mats. Some individuals in the group are adaptive climbers or have experience climbing with people with physical disabilities. If you have questions about what is available and how we can best support your needs, please reach out.

There are gendered, multi-user, wheelchair-accessible restrooms with stalls and showers. There is also 1 single-user restroom through the exercise room, and 1 wheelchair-accessible single-user restroom with a shower past the gender restrooms around the corner.
