Duration: 2 hrs
Join the National Gallery Learning Team, First Nations Learning Program Convenor Maggie Douglas, Education Manager Leanne Waterhouse and Digital and Outreach Learning Manager Julia Mendel, for a 2-hour professional learning program, focused on the Gallery’s Art Through Culture principles at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT).
The program includes creative learning strategies for engaging with works from the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (Telstra NATSIAA) and will have a First Nations focus, sharing Art Through Culture, the National Gallery’s learning approach to First Nations art. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their current practice and generate ideas to further embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and knowledge into their learning spaces.
The National Gallery learning team will also share the Gallery's Creative Learning Approach to engaging with works of art, using open ended creative learning strategies that centre the artist’s voice. We will invite participants to share stories and ideas through an inquiry-led approach.
This session is open to early learning, primary, secondary and tertiary educators, and other youth and arts professionals.
