Step into the dark and follow the stars.
Join Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei in preparations for Matariki with an engaging and interactive hīkoi up Maungakiekie. Guided by the stars, you’ll discover the stories, history, and cultural practices of Ngāti Whātua, while learning how Matariki has been traditionally observed and honoured in Tāmaki.
Expect connection, kōrero, and moments of reflection as we walk the mountain together — sharing knowledge, laughter, and new perspectives under the night sky.
👣 Who Is This For?
This activation is open to Maungakiekie‑Tāmaki residents.
A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, as the activity is a walking hīkoi on the maunga.
