Training in the pruning of mature fruit trees that have received minimal pruning in the past.
About this Event

The Forest of Avon Trust is offering FREE pruning training for volunteers this winter. Training will take place in community orchards across the Forest of Avon that is: Bristol, Bath & NE Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

The training is aimed at bringing more community orchards into active management, to provide food for local communities and habitat for wildlife. Volunteers MUST nominate a community orchard that they will care for in order to qualify for this training.

Thursday 9th February - Whitchurch and Hengrove Community Orchard

Restorative pruning of apple trees

This training will take place at Whitchurch and Hengrove Community Orchard, in South Bristol

Meeting point is the orchard, off Bamfield Road, BS14 0XF

Trees here are 10+ years old and are now over head height so pruning will be with pole saws and hand saws. This is physically strenuous work!

No experience is necessary, all tools, PPE and training are provided. Please bring a packed lunch, warm and waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear.

There are no toilets on site.
