🌊 Sir David Attenborough turned 100 this year.
To celebrate a lifetime spent helping us see and understand the natural world, Eco Meetups Budapest is hosting a free community screening of his latest film, Ocean in Budapest.
A licensed evening of film + expert roundtable, co-organised with Zöldike Klub.
The expert roundtable will include marine biologists, conservation specialists, and environmental researchers. Connect, discuss, exchange ideas.
The film and the discussion are in English. Anyone is warmly welcome.

The ocean was our first home. Odysseus sailed across it. Ariel looked up to its surface. Nemo found his way back to it. Long before words, we wove the rhythm of waves into our stories.
And even now, in Budapest, 1,200 km from the nearest coast, half the oxygen in your next breath comes from the sea. The Danube flowing through Budapest right now empties into the Black Sea, then the Mediterranean, then the Atlantic. What happens to the ocean reaches us, too.

Half the world's coral reefs are dead. The microscopic plankton, the very organisms generating that second breath you just took, are suffocating under plastic. The tropical seas are warming.

In the film, he calls the most important of his life, Sir David amplifies a global goal already signed by 190 nations: the 30 by 30 target — protect 30% of the world's ocean by 2030.
A single truth: leave the ocean alone, and it heals. Not over centuries. In years.

The film launched the Revive Our Ocean initiative, the conservation campaign of National Geographic Pristine Seas, which has helped create 29 of the largest marine reserves on Earth.
