The latest iteration of our live creative jazz performance series, Free Music Fridays, is fast approaching! Next Friday July 5th, Trombonist/Creative Improvisor/Designer Zekkereya El-magharbel’s new ensemble Rabbit Portrait will perform in the shop. The group is composed of:Zekkereya El-magharbel - Trombone
Jonathan Barahal Taylor - Drums
Jake Shadik - Woodwinds
Ben Green - Trumpet
Mike Abbo - Bass Violin
With diverse backgrounds in musical idioms from traditional jazz to free improvisation to post-rock, this newly assembled group of deep players and listeners should prove surprising and exciting in the sheer breadth of their creativity. It’s also worth mentioning that Drummer/Composer Jonathan Barahal Taylor was a regular fixture at Dave Hurley’s prior Fire Music Mondays series in Hamtramck (the spiritual predecessor to Free Music Fridays), taking over its curation a few years ago. His return to our current series is a welcome one!
