Free Modern Masculinities Conference 2026
The University of Westminster is pleased to host Modern Masculinities, a free interdisciplinary conference taking place on Tuesday 1 September 2026 (10:00–17:00) at the Cavendish Campus (The Pavilion), Central London.
Open to academics, practitioners, students, and members of the public, this event will explore pressing contemporary issues relating to masculinity, including men’s mental health, identity, relationships, and the impact of social and technological change.
Organised by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and funded by the Quintin Hogg Trust, the conference brings together diverse perspectives from across disciplines and professional contexts.
Highlights of the programme include a keynote address by Professor Brendan Gough (Leeds Beckett University), a leading scholar in masculinities and critical health psychology: “Affective masculinities: How do men enact vulnerability amid competing gender norms?”
There is also a discussion panel with Professor Paul Galdas, Chair of the Men’s Health Academic Network, a national body advising Government on implementation of the new Men's Health Strategy for England.
We warmly welcome people to attend or present. Presentations can be from researchers, practitioners, and students. Please submit an abstract (200–300 words) by 17 June 2026 to: Professor Damien Ridge – [email protected]
