Pace: Leisurely, it's advisable to devote the afternoon to this walk
The walk, run by Canal & River Trust, will be led by volunteer walk leaders who are full of interesting information about the local area.
A leisurely afternoon circular walk along the Oxford Canal towpath to Wolvercote Village with a stop at The White Hart community-run pub in Wolvercote for refreshments, toilets and to enjoy the surroundings.
The walk will then return to Oxford along the Thames River Path passing Godstow Abbey remains and ancient Port Meadow. A second refreshment stop will be made at The Meadly, Oxford, a pop up pub on the Thames Riverbank, before returning to Hythe Bridge.
This is a leisurely walk which allows time to stop and take photos, take in the local wildlife and generally enjoy the wellbeing effects of being by water.
Please note that the canal path is level and flat, but there is one set of steps from the canal up to the road level. The Thames Path is uneven and rutted in places.
The great thing about walking is that you do not need any fancy equipment. Please just wear comfortable shoes and some water.
Well behaved dogs are welcome to join the walk, but must be kept on the lead at all times.
