Arthur Boyd’s retelling of the life of Saint Francis of Assisi weaves together biblical events, with Boyd’s own experiences and imagination. Boyd commissioned the tapestry workshop Manufactura de Tapeçarias de Portalegre in Portugal to translate his lithographic prints and pastel drawings into 20 monumental tapestries. Elspeth will lead a discussion around the theme of translation in relation to the exhibition and the influences and collaborations that shaped the series.
Emily Casey, Program Convenor, Kids & Families, will provide tactile materials for your babies to enjoy.
This event is part of our Weave it with us program series, which includes talks, workshops, live demonstrations and drop-in activities for all ages and skill levels.
