About this Event
Bayley House Foundation is delighted to present Jennifer Jackson, Partner and Head of Estate Planning & Probate with Avant Law. Focused on parents and carers, the session is designed to highlight the various areas families could consider when putting into place their estate plans.
For over 15 years, Avant Law’s estate planning team members have been assisting parents across Australia who have children with intellectual disabilities and other vulnerabilities.
Their goal is to ensure that every parent of a vulnerable child/loved one has the information they need to protect their family member’s inheritance from poor decision making or exploitation by a third party, and reduce any impact on the child’s disability support pension.
During the session Jennifer will discuss the following:
- What are the main considerations?
- How an inheritance can be managed for the benefit of your loved one.
- Two main types of protective trusts.
- The special disability trust in more detail, including how this trust can preserve the disability support pension and also provide tax and stamp duty benefits.
- The vulnerable beneficiary’s own estate.
- Managing decision making for the vulnerable beneficiary.
