The Harp Collective Duo

The Harp Collective Duo, formed by Huw Boucher and Natalie Lo, is an award-winning harp partnership known for its musical versatility and creative collaborations.

In 2025, the duo was awarded the Gold Medal at the 9th Hong Kong International Harp Competition, recognizing their artistry and ensemble excellence. Their debut recital, Dances and Dreams, marked a milestone in Hong Kong’s harp scene, featuring innovative programming and original arrangements that merge classical tradition with modern expression.

The duo explores a wide range of repertoire – from original pieces, piano and orchestral transcriptions to their own newly crafted arrangements, bringing fresh perspectives to familiar works. Their performances are defined by expressive dialogue, refined technique, and a shared vision to expand the boundaries of harp duo playing.

The Harp Collective Duo continues to perform internationally, promoting creative collaboration and showcasing the harp as a powerful, imaginative voice in today’s music world

Natalie Lo began her musical journey at a young age and showed promise as a musician. At the age of 16, she was admitted to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) as a Bachelor of Music Degree student and studied under Ann Huang. Natalie was awarded the HKAPA Scholarship, SAR Philharmonic Orchestra Scholarship, Grantham Scholarship and the Dean’s list. Natalie graduated with First Class Honours in 2024 and is studying with Skaila Kanga in the Royal Academy of Music under an entrance scholarship and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund.

Over the course of her career, Natalie performed actively. In 2019, she performed at the Scuola Italiana D’Archi festival in Italy. In 2022, she was invited to perform in the Stars of Tomorrow Concert at the esteemed USA International Harp Competition and performed in the 14th World Harp Congress in Cardiff. She was selected by the HKAPA to perform the Glière Harp Concerto alongside the Academy Symphony Orchestra as a Concerto competition winner. Natalie is active in collaborating with international artists, such as Marc Grauwels from Belgium and Sei Murai from Japan. Natalie has recorded a CD with local flutist Aaron Leung, which will be released under Da Vinci Classics in 2025.

Natalie achieved success in various competitions. Her achievements include the 1st place in the 2013 Concours Français de la Harpe and the 3rd place in the 18th Osaka International Music Competition in 2017. In 2023, Natalie was awarded the bronze prize in the Professional Division and the Professional Duet Division at the 8th Hong Kong International Harp Competition. In addition, Natalie is highly sought-after as an orchestral harpist. She has collaborated with prestigious orchestras such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra as a freelance harpist and Hong Kong Sinfonietta as the guest principal.

Huw Boucher’s interest in music began when he started learning the piano at the age of 10. At 11 years old at the Junior Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, he began his harp studies with Kathryn Rees. With the addition of the flute Huw achieved ABRSM Grade 8 in all three instruments by his early teens. Huw won the National Eisteddfod from 2016-19 and in 2017 was also awarded the coveted Blue Ribbon with a £1000 scholarship. He was also a finalist on two occasions in the Gregynog National Young Musician with a £500 scholarship award. In 2018 Huw joined the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and performed with them in the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. In 2020 Huw was the only harpist in the Strings Finals in the BBC Young Musician competition, which was shown on national television.

In 2021 Huw was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in addition to the prestigious ABRSM award to support his studies. At the Academy Huw studies with Skaila Kanga, Professor Emerita of Harp, as well as being part of a thriving harp department. In July 2022 Huw won the Silver Medal at the USA International Harp Competition in Bloomington, Indiana. He also won the Concerto Prize in the final stage and performed in the Manchester Harp Festival in 2024.
