Gainesville Retro Society Performs live April 12 at Bo Diddley Plaza from 7 - 9 p.m. Concert is free and open to the public.
Gainesville Retro Society is a creation of Steve Bingham and Brad Bangstad early in 2022 to do a tribute to the band “Chicago” and several other horn bands from the 60’s and 70’s. It is a ten piece group comprised of four horn players, a four piece rhythm section, and two lead vocalists. The horn section includes Alex Kratochvil on trumpet, Jimmy Anuszewski on saxophone, Stephen Kushmaul on trombone, and Geoff Spiegel on bass trombone. The rhythm section is Rob Rothschild on drums, Frank Varosi on bass, Isaac Rodriguez on guitar, and Brad Bangstad on keyboards. Elaina Rodriguez on lead vocals, and Don David on lead vocals and guitar round out the group. Sadly, Steve Bingham has passed a few months ago. We miss him dearly, but he wanted us to continue with this project. Most of us have played at the Plaza numerous times in various groups, and we have a couple of new faces as well. We look forward to presenting some very fine music from a few decades ago, and sincerely hope you enjoy the show.
