Step into the worlds of a saint and a son as we consider Arthur Boyd’s depiction of St Francis of Assisi. Join exhibition co-curator Elspeth Pitt and Head of Australian Art, Deborah Hart, in a conversation about Boyd’s fascination with the Patron Saint of Italy and his (often fraught) relationship with his father, the artist Merrick Boyd.
This event is part of our Weave it with us program series, which includes talks, tours, workshops, live demonstrations and drop-in activities for all ages and skill levels.
Arthur Boyd: Tapestries is on display at the National Gallery in Level 1, Gallery 12 now until 18 Oct 2026.
Friday Art Talks is a free weekly program. Hear from artists, curators and experts on the works in our collection and exhibition program.
The National Gallery’s main entrance has been temporarily relocated to the Level 1 revolving doors while we carry out critical building rectification works. We suggest that you arrive an extra 5 minutes early to allow time to navigate the changes. See here for more information.
This is a free drop-in event.
Bookings are not required, but capacity is limited.
Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Duration: 45 mins including Q&A
