About this Event
When Texas lawmakers seek to review a list of books, librarians find themselves on the frontlines of a national battle. Across the U.S., librarians face the impact of uniting against library collection standards that include restrictions on race-related and LGBTQIA+ content. Drawing on historical context, The Librarians explores the broader implications for education and public life.
Join us for this profound film and stay afterwards for a conversation with Albany Public Library's Assistant Director Melanie Metzger, and Elise Kline, multimedia journalist who recently reported on book bans in New York State. Elise will also share a segment of her New York NOW report.
Light refreshments will be provided.
The Pine Hills Branch is an accessible building and there are several handicapped spaces in the parking lot. It can also be reached by bus (via Routes 10, 11, 114, 138, and 763). Film includes open captioning. If additional accommodations are needed, please reach out to Mara Drogan (she/her), the Director of Community Engagement & Education, at [email protected].
