Free Family-friendly Walk to Dodgson Clough, Halifax

Are you looking for new and exciting walking routes that are also child-friendly?

Then why not join our Walk Leaders as they guide you on this 2.1km walk (1.32 miles) around Dodgson Clough and up to Ramsden Wood.

This little circuit on the edge of Ovenden has lots to keep kids entertained. You’ve got a massive old viaduct, cute Ridings Bridge over the Hebble creek, a secret waterfall, horses, ruins and a fab park and playground at the end.

It’s a short distance, but due to mixed terrain and an uphill stretch in the middle, it is more suitable to children at walking age, rather than in pushchairs.

This is a free event, with public transport expenses covered - just show your bus ticket on arrival and our guides will reimburse you.

Meeting Point: Maltings Road, HX2 0SJ (at playground car park)

Meeting Time: Please arrive at 11am . The walk should last take around 2 hours but we have factored an extra hour in for playtime at the end! Please bring your own lunch/snacks/drinks etc for the walk.

Getting There:

The walk will start on Maltings Road – close to a bus stop on Ovenden Wood Road, on-street parking and playground to finish at.

The Team Pennine Bus 530 runs from Halifax Bus Station to Ovenden Wood Road, just off Maltings Road. Trips run every hour and the journey from Halifax takes 14 minutes.
