Long before fabric stores and cozy blankets were easy to find, pioneer families created everything they needed by hand. Spinning, weaving, knitting, and stitching were everyday skills that kept families warm and connected through creativity and care.
Step back in time and explore these traditional fiber arts through fun, hands-on activities for all ages. Try spinning wool into thread, weaving on a simple loom, and learning basic techniques like finger knitting, crocheting, and braiding. These timeless crafts celebrate creativity, patience, and the joy of making something with your own hands.
Discover how early families turned simple materials into everyday essentials—and take home your own handmade keepsake inspired by the past.
Creative Activities Include:
- Drop Spindle Spinning – Learn how wool was twisted into thread using a simple spindle
