The 22nd of September is Mabon or the Fall Equinox, the day that measures equal hours of light and dark; night and the day are the same length - balance. It is also when we move into the sign of Libra, whose symbol is the scales - again, balance. Traditionally in the Northern Hemisphere, it is a time to have a great Harvest Festival, to really celebrate all of the hard work of the year and rest after a month of the hard work of harvesting.Over the years, I’ve shaped my yoga and spiritual teachings around these primal and innate connections to the Earth’s consciousness. By deepening our awareness of these seasonal energies and planetary shifts, we are connecting to something larger. We are plugging into the inherent wisdom of the Earth. We can utilize that connection in our spiritual and self-care practices.
Harnessing Fall Equinox Energy.
In this yoga practice we’ll taking a soothing approach to twists and balances. In honoring the balance of light and dark at the equinox, we’ll integrate the left and right side bodies. Alternate Nostril Breathing to helps us find a soothing sense of balance between the left and right hemispheres of the brain, while reclined side body stretches to restore the physical body.
Also deep hip openers to help us to release and settle, honoring the Earth’s seasonal turn toward rest and regeneration.
I suggest comfy clothes, bring your own mat(BYOM), and water.
