Join us for a lecture detailing the fascinating tales behind the works in our new exhibition 'Treasures from the Museum & Gallery at Bob Jones University: Five Centuries of Old Master Painting'. FREE, pre-registration is encouraged.
Born in Malden, Massachusetts, Eric Zafran received his BA in art history from Brandeis University in 1967 and his PhD in 1972 from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts. After an internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he has had a long and distinguished career as a curator of European Art in museums in Boston, Atlanta, Norfolk, and Baltimore and most recently was for fifteen years the Susan Morse Hilles Curator at America’s oldest art museum, The Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT. A specialist in Renaissance and Baroque religious art and collecting as well as 19th –century French painting and drawing, he organized exhibitions devoted to a wide range of topics including Alexander Calder, Caravaggio, Gauguin, and Surrealism. He has retired to Florida and now lives in Fort Lauderdale but continues to research, write, and lecture on topics of European Art.
