The Pacific Northwest brings us yet another new musical flavor in the alt hip hop indie fusion trio, Free Creatures. The trio features emcee & producer Marv Ellis remixing original beats on an MPC live while rapping and freestyling in his beloved and charismatic style. Marv is joined by the smooth, sweet, feminine swagger of upright bassist and singer Emily Turner, and the riveting soul effects of intentional riffs and mind-bending solos from electric guitar wizard Skyler Squglio.
Free Creatures have enjoyed steadfast, all-organic, independent growth since their inception in 2019. The group started 2024 off with a bang, opening as direct support for Dirtwire in 8 major cities in the PacNW. The group will spend 2024 continuing to tour nationally and promoting their upcoming releases, planned throughout 2024. Catch Free Creatures in your habitat, while you can!
BIO: Asher Fulero Band
Asher Fulero is a world-class Pianist/Keyboardist with virtuosic skills and a modern-edged Music Producer that defies categorization. Constantly involved in a wide range of musical projects, he has spent the last 30 years relentlessly pushing his own boundaries both technically and stylistically while captivating music lovers around the globe with his fresh ideas, deep chops, natural feel and infectious spontaneity. Capable of incredible technical prowess and deep emotional connection, Asher is profoundly experienced & skilled as a composer/producer/arranger and is undeniably a veteran stage performer with an extensively broad resume featuring hundreds of studio appearances and thousands of stage performances under his belt.
Asher creates a myriad of diverse original musical projects, currently including:
• The Asher Fulero Band, a high-power, super-tight funk/rock/jazz jamband with guest stars and amazing original songs.
• Solo Piano & Ambient-Experimental music under his given name, Asher Fulero
• Threedom, an all-improvised Jazz-Tronica power trio with near-psychic interplay and 7 albums.
• Halo Refuser, his long-running EDM/Electronica Producer/DJ Alter-Ego (and anagram of his name)
Since 2015 Asher has also been recording with worldwide EDM/Triphop/Downtempo sensation Emancipator, appearing on his last three albums Seven Seas, Baralku, and Mountain of Memory, and from 2015-2019 toured with the Emancipator Ensemble, performing across the US and Europe aticonic venues like Red Rocks Amphitheater and headlining top-tier festivals like Electric Forest, Bumbershoot, Lightning In A Bottle and more, culminating in the 2018 ‘Baralku Live’ album.
After 3 years in production, Asher Fulero & Emancipator released a collaborative double album of timeless Jazz-hop in 2021 entitled ‘Dab Records Volume One’ which went on to sell 700+ double-vinyl copies and earn over 6 million streams on Spotify. Volume 2 is in progress! In 2016 Asher was invited to help Colorado bluegrass legends Yonder Mountain String Band expand their acoustic lineup into a larger rock ensemble for a special Saturday night headlining set at Northwest String Summit, beginning an annual tradition that continued for six years until the final NWSS in 2022, as well as other collaborations with the band on and offstage.
2018-2019 Asher worked with guitar shred legend Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big, Racer X), recording on his very successful 2019 album ‘Behold Electric Guitar’ and then embarking on a World Tour with 75 shows in 23 countries across North America, Europe, and Asia.
In 2021 Asher created the final mixes for popular folk singer/comedian John Craigie’s most popular studio album ‘Mermaid Salt’, and subsequently performed with John for several shows around it’s release as well as performing at his annual Beatles ‘Lonely’ events in 2023-24.
In 2022 Asher began working with hiphop legend Aesop Rock, adding keyboards and samples to his critically-acclaimed 2023 album ‘Integrated Tech Solutions’ as well as a new album slated to release in 2025.
Also in 2022, Asher traveled to Iceland and the iconic Floki Studios with Taiwanese singer Joanna Wang to help create her critically-acclaimed album ‘Hotel La Rut’ for Sony Taiwan, which went on to earn many accolades including a rare 4-star review from celebrity reviewer Anthony Fantano. The group reconvened in Portland Oregon in 2024 to create a raucous theme song for the Taiwanese Horror film ‘Dead Talents Society’, which went on to win ‘Best Movie Theme Song’ at the 2024 Taiwan Movie Awards.
Since 2003, Asher has also been a semi-regular member of The Everyone Orchestra, a conducted improvisatory ensemble with rotating casts through which Asher has had the opportunity to perform and collaborate with an incredible community of amazing artists far too long to list (notably including 10+ shows with Jon Fishman from Phish in 2004-2008, and appearances with members of String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon, The Meters, and literally hundreds more legendary artists).
Meanwhile, he has composed vast amounts of original soundtrack music for the Youtube Audio Library (80+ works plus hundreds of shorts), garnering literally hundreds of millions of plays across thousands of videos worldwide and amassing nearly 40,000 YouTube Subscribers, as well as earning millions of plays on Spotify, and in tens of thousands of FB/IG reels.
In 2023 Asher launched his own record label, Full Arrow Records, creating a home for his new vinyl pressing initiative and webstore as well as a central location for the massive discography of 45+ original albums he’s released. Since the label’s inception, it has released three pressings including an amazing double-transparent vinyl pressing of his 2015 Asher Fulero Band album ‘Catching Air’, which sold 500 copies to the ‘Heady Wax Fiends’ vinyl group, and an amazing multicolor ‘Wax Mage’ pressing of his 2024 album Worlds which sold out in under an hour. Amidst all of this, Asher also maintains a diverse studio session schedule playing keyboards for a huge array of artists and creators totaling hundreds of album appearances, including extensive work with Grammy-winning producer Steve Berlin (Los Lobos) and prolific Reggae/World Fusion producer
Jah Levi.
